COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Atlanta Writes Community Guidelines

Welcome to Atlanta Writes! Our community thrives on creativity, collaboration, and mutual respect. To ensure a positive and productive environment for everyone, we’ve established the following guidelines. Please read them carefully and abide by them to help foster a safe and inspiring space for all writers.

1. Respectful Communication

  • Engage in discussions with politeness and courtesy.

  • Avoid personal attacks, insults, or harassment.

  • Disagreements are natural but must be handled respectfully and constructively.

2. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

  • Language or actions targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or other personal characteristics will not be tolerated.

  • We are committed to maintaining a space free of discrimination and hate speech.

3. Privacy and Consent

  • Respect the privacy of others. Do not share someone else’s personal information (e.g., full name, contact details, or private conversations) without explicit consent.

  • Protect your own privacy by avoiding sharing sensitive personal details publicly.

4. No Spam or Excessive Self-Promotion

  • Posting self-promotional content (e.g., links to blogs, books, or services) is allowed only in the designated Promo Channel.

  • Spamming, irrelevant content, or repeated messages in discussions are prohibited.

  • Focus on contributing value to the group rather than advertising yourself.

5. Stay on Topic

  • Keep discussions relevant to the focus of the group: writing, critique, and creative growth.

  • Off-topic conversations should be redirected to appropriate spaces or private messages.

6. Follow Copyright and Legal Regulations

  • Do not share content (e.g., text, images, or resources) that violates copyright laws or terms of service.

  • If sharing others' work, always give proper credit and ensure you have permission.

  • Do not post illegal, pirated, or unauthorized materials.

Note that we do not accept:

    • pornographic images or videos;

    • graphic or disturbing media;

    • content promoting the sexual, violent, or other exploitation of minors, including the sexualization of fictional minors.

7. Be Mindful of Others

  • Consider how your words and actions may affect others.

  • Be sensitive to different perspectives, and approach discussions with empathy and understanding.

8. Use Appropriate Language

  • Avoid profanity, vulgar language, or any terms that may be offensive to others.

  • Maintain a professional and welcoming tone in all communications.

9. Be Patient and Understanding

  • Online communication lacks tone and context, which can lead to misunderstandings.

  • Give others the benefit of the doubt, and clarify your intent if your words are misinterpreted.

10. Report Abuse

  • If you witness behavior that violates these guidelines, report it to the moderators or administrators immediately.

  • Do not engage with or escalate inappropriate behavior—let the moderators handle it.

11. Moderation and Enforcement

  • Moderators reserve the right to remove content or take action (e.g., warnings, suspensions, or bans) against members who violate these guidelines.

  • Repeat offenses or serious violations may result in permanent removal from the group.

12. Contribute Positively

  • Share your insights, participate in discussions, and offer constructive critiques.

  • Encourage and support fellow writers in their creative journeys.

Closing Note

These guidelines are here to ensure Atlanta Writes remains a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community for all its members. By adhering to them, you’re helping us create a space where creativity flourishes, connections grow, and every member feels valued.

Thank you for contributing to our community! If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to the moderators. Happy writing!
